Approaches

Best Practices

Instructional best practices are general principles, guidelines, and suggestions for good andeffective teaching that are supported by research.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

The goal of UDI is to maximize the learning of students with a wide range of characteristics by applying UD principles to all aspects of instruction (e.g., delivery methods, physical spaces, information resources, technology, personal interactions, assessments).

Differentiated Instruction (DI)

Differentiated instruction is the way in which a teacher anticipates and responds to a variety of student needs in the classroom. To meet student needs, teachers differentiate by modifying the content (what is being taught), the process (how it is taught) and the product (how students demonstrate their learning).

Response to Intervention (RtI)

Response to Intervention (RtI) provides high-quality instruction and interventions that match a student’s needs and monitors progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals.
